Recital Celebrates Spring

Angel StringsOur next - and final 2012 - Twilight Recital (5 September) will herald the change of season with a classical program for violins, viola and cello.

Brisbane quartet, Angel Strings will celebrate Spring with a delightful program including Vivaldi's Spring (from Four Seasons),
Gershwin’s Lullaby for String Quartet, Delibes’ Flower Duet, Piazzola’s Libertango, It Don’t Mean a Thing and Love is in the Air.

Free Artist Seminar

Work by Vernon Ah KeeCelebrated Australian Indigenous artist, Vernon Ah Kee will present a free seminar (21 September) in conjunction with the Undiluted Exhibition (on-show in the USQ Arts Gallery until 27 September).

In the two-part seminar, Vernon will speak about his own artistic practice and provide an overview of what is required to be a professional artist, how to get into the art world and what is expected of you when you get there.

The seminar will be followed by a light luncheon and the opportunity to speak with Vernon and view the exhibition.

Shakespeare Festival Update

Shakespeare in the Park FestivalIt's less than one month until the Shakespeare in the Park Festival site will begin to take-shape on the USQ Front Oval.

Nestled amid the trees, the site will feature our stunning open-air mainstage together with ample grassy space for the audience to setup chairs, picnics and blankets in the casual and social setting the Festival has become famous for.

We'll also be using a range of other venues around the campus throughout the season - ever expanding the range of events on the Festival program.

Songs from Broadway

Postcards from 42nd StreetThe music and theatre students from our School of Creative Arts will present an evening of song, dance and drama in celebration of musical theatre from across the ages.

The program will include snippets from Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, West Side Story, Gypsy, A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors and 42nd Street.

Katie Noonan & Karin Schaupp Following the success of their huge national tour last year, two of Australia's most loved female artists, songstress Katie Noonan and classical guitarist Karin Schaupp, will play at the Empire Church Theatre on 5 October.
