McGregor School News
The 22nd annual McGregor Winter School opens next week (6 July) and we are very pleased to be welcoming a record number of participants. The School has not been this busy since early 2000.
Enrolments are open for McGregor on the Bay. The intensive visual arts workshops include painting and drawing classes with Donald James Waters, Herman Pekel, Ross Paterson, Lyn Butchart, Penelope Gilbert-Ng and Keith Norris. Why not treat yourself to a long-weekend at Hervey Bay from 18-21 September?

Theatre Designer Speaks Out
Award-winning couturier and USQ Designer, Carolyn Taylor-Smith will speak at the next Twilight Talk (8 July).
She will discuss the role of a Designer including aesthetic, creative and practical challenges, and the processes used to achieve the ‘look’ of productions and present a selection of her creations in static displays and a costume parade (including personal favourite, Lady Macbeth).

Wildly Entertaining Musical Theatre
Audiences are assured of a wildly entertaining and provocative night at the theatre when The Threepenny Opera is presented next month (21-30 August).
The cabaret-style musical theatre, based on John Gay’s Beggar’s Opera, will showcase actors, singers, musicians, creatives and puppeteers from the University’s Creative Arts program.
Brechtian and Cabaret Workshops will also be offered to school groups in conjunction with this production.

Shakespeare on Tour
Local secondary schools are invited to host a Black Box Shakespeare performance in-school this October.
Thus I Die and
Bard Wired combine artistic elements of Shakespeare, poetry, humour, song and dance and have been co-produced by USQ and shake & stir theatre co to both entertain and educate students.

Gallery Going-On's
Drop into the USQ Arts Gallery this month and see the current exhibition of works by USQ Ceramics students.
The Max Project challenges the artists to explore the maximum amount of space within the gallery, using the minimal amount of clay.
The exhibition runs until 31 July and admission is free of charge.

Jazz, Blues & Big Band Favourites
The Ergon Energy USQ Big Band will be joined by Rhonda Burchmore for their 3 October concert in the Empire Theatre.
