Staff at LTSU have developed a series of templates which are designed to be integrated into faculty courses. Each template addresses a particular aspect of academic communication. These templates include short explanations and exercises for students which can be tailored to specific course content. The templates are generic but allow for the insertion of specific assessment items and course readings, which will help students to develop generic communication skills that are directly relevant to their chosen discipline. The templates can be used proactively for all students to engage with, or they can be used to target particular groups of students who are identified as needing assistance with certain aspects of academic communication.
