The Faculty of Business is strongly committed to supporting and engaging with regional communities to contribute towards the generation of sustainable employment and appropriate pathways to education and into the workforce, support for a range of community events and local branches of professional associations and ultimately the fostering of a positive community spirit.

Beyond Education

The Beyond Education project (developed in conjunction with other USQ sections) provides graduates with the necessary skills for effective transition to the workforce, including an employability skills scheme, career mentoring network, graduate induction initiative, industry links and research publications.

Beyond Education is an integrated working model of career transition and provides a framework upon which the movements between career phases across an individual's lifetime can be pragmatically conceptualized. The program contains a range of modules that pertain to an individual's transition through major developmental milestones of his or her career.

To date, the following outcomes have resulted from the Beyond Education initiatives implemented at USQ:

  • employability skills scheme from which an employability transition training manual has been developed
  • Career Mentoring Network from which a mentorship scheme manual has been developed
  • Graduate Induction Initiative from which an employer induction program manual has been developed to assist SMEs
  • industry links through both local and metropolitan employer reference groups
  • research publications.
