Chartered Accountants Students' Society

All accounting students can be associated with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA) by becoming members of the Chartered Accountants Students' Society (CASS). Members of CASS receive a number of services including the latest edition of the Institute's publication Accounting/Auditing Statements, subscription to the Institute's journal CHARTER, access to the Institute's libraries and discounts on bookshop purchases, invitations to attend professional development programs and young member social and sporting functions, and a regular CASS newsletter.

CPA Australia- Accounting Students' Register

Accounting students can gain access to some of the benefits of CPA Australia by joining the Accounting Students' Register. These benefits include access to the Society's Library Services, a free book incorporating the most up-to-date Australian Accounting Standards, monthly issues of the Australian Accountant, as well as other benefits.

Association of Taxation and Management Accountants (ATMA)

Accounting graduates are eligible to join the Association of Taxation and Management at the member level, without further study. The ATMA has student membership available for those studying full-time. Postgraduate students are eligible to join ATMA at the fellow level, without further study.

Financial Services Institute of Australasia (Finsia)

Students are eligible to be Affiliate members of Finsia. The aim of membership is to allow you to:

  • be connected to a global network of over 20,000 industry professionals
  • experience exclusive benefits and services
  • gain access to a rich pool of resources, journals and publications. 

On completion of an academic program in banking and/or finance through the Faculty of Business, students may be eligible for Finsia membership as either an Associate or Senior Associate depending on educational and career achievements.

Securities Institute of Australia

The Securities Institute of Australia is a national not-for-profit professional organisation representing people engaged in, and connected with investment and securities markets. Membership is drawn from a wide range of professionals including stockbrokers, merchant bankers, investment analysts, fund managers, bankers, investment advisers, securities dealers, lawyers and accountants.

Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia (IPAA)

All postgraduate students undertaking Advanced Insolvency Law I and Advanced Insolvency Law II and the IPAA workshop program are eligible for student membership during their studies on completion of the required application form and tender of the required fee.

The Finance and Treasury Association Limited

Students completing the Master of Commerce (with at least four units being Finance courses) will meet the education requirements for professional membership of the Finance and Treasury Association Limited (FTA). Students must also meet the skills and experience criteria required by the FTA.

Students completing the Master of Business Administration (Finance specialisation) and Master of Applied Finance will meet the education requirements for professional membership of the Finance and Treasury Association Limited (FTA). Students must also meet the skills and experience criteria required by the FTA.

Australian Computer Society (ACS)

All students enrolled in a computing major can become student members of the Australian Computer Society (ACS). ACS is committed to working with students and recent graduates to help them achieve their goals. Their aim is to help students relate theory to business practice in the transition from study to employment. They offer student membership for budding IT professionals studying accredited courses at tertiary level, and first year graduates, which gives students access to all the standard services of the ACS plus a number of tailored services such as those outlined in their brochure, which can be found at http://www.acs.org.au.

National Institute of Accountants (NIA)

All accounting students are eligible to join the National Institute of Accountants (NIA) Student Register.
