Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP)
The Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP) has been developed to give students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent access to tertiary preparation skills with an Indigenous focus.
If you would like to undertake university study but don't have the correct school qualifications, or you have been out of formal education for a while and feel your skills are a bit rusty, IHEPP will help you develop the skills you need.
Successful completion of IHEPP may lead to entry into a USQ undergraduate (first degree) program, increased employment opportunities, and the opportunity to apply for entry into other universities.
Am I eligible?
There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to undertake a selection-testing program in order to assess your literacy and numeracy levels.
How long will it take to finish?
IHEPP can be completed within 6-8 months full-time, or 12-18 months part-time.
Can I study IHEPP on-campus or via distance education?
IHEPP is only offered via distance education. This means that you can complete the program around your work and life commitments, studying at your own pace and at the time of day or week that suits you best.
Will I need to come on-campus during this program?
You will need to attend on-campus residential schools if you are studying full-time. Residential schools are held twice each semester. Attendance is compulsory for all full-time students, and for other students enrolled in the computing course.
How much will it cost?
There are no program fees for students undertaking IHEPP. You may also be entitled for Abstudy assistance.
Student Amenities Fee
In accordance with new Australian Government legislation, it is envisaged that USQ will be charging you a Student Services and Amenities Fee during 2012. This fee will cover services such as employment and career advice, health services, financial advice and other support services. The Student Services and Amenities Fee will not exceed $263 per student in 2012. If you are an Australian citizen and eligible to access a HELP loan, you may choose to defer payment through the SA-HELP scheme.
The University will provide more information regarding the implementation of the fee as soon as details are finalised. In the meantime, you can go to the Australian Government DEEWR website for details of the legislation.
