Urban and Regional planning

Urban and Regional planning provides you with the knowledge and skills required to design communities and assess the impact of development on other residents. You will gain knowledge of the regulatory controls that facilitate sustainable urban development, environmental planning and natural resource management.

Planners are employed in all parts of the development process, they both help design projects that are sympathetic to existing communities as well as ensure that proposed developments do not detract from the places that the community has grown to treasure. Professional planners are primarily employed in Local, State and Federal Government agencies, property development companies or in private consultancies. However, they also find employment wherever changes and developments may have impact on existing communities. This may be in the areas of transport, tourism, health or public spaces.
