Anthropology
Anthropology is the study of people and analyses what it means to be human in a wide range of contexts and places; from the study of material culture to popular culture, public health policies and the world’s religions. Anthropology can be used to address some of society’s most compelling questions on war, gender, discrimination, racism and other equal divisions of power.
Studying anthropology with us goes beyond the traditional idea of studying remote societies and cultures to look at the social and cultural experiences of our own lives. The degree will provide you the opportunity to delve deeper into the questions you ask about the world, and provide you with the academic skills needed to make a difference.
As a student, you will have access to our research laboratory for project work as well as the opportunity to work as a volunteer lab assistant. There is also an extensive and comprehensive library available to advanced level students for use under supervision.
We also have strong ties to The Australian Anthropological Society which represents the profession of anthropology in Australia. The society provides valuable resources including forums, newsletters, online publications, journal as well as an annual conference.
