International Relations

Interesting and ever-changing, the global political climate is a melting pot of relationships between nations, political systems and ideologies, economies, security regimes, policy frameworks and institutional structures.

Whether you are fascinated by the world and want to learn more, or you want to be on the ground making a difference, International Relations gives you the chance to get involved. This area of study offers you the chance to examine Australian domestic and international affairs, learn how countries and regions interact on a global scale, and explore the internal and external issues these relationships can face.

As a student, you will be encouraged to incorporate a study abroad experience or an internship under the Australian National Internship Program to give you an edge when it comes time to find a job. There is also an International Relations Student Club where you can form lifelong contacts in the field.

If you are after a more specialised area of sudy at the undergraduate level, you may like to consider Asian Studies which combines subjects from Indonesian, Language and Culture and International Relations; or Social Justice which looks at the impact of human social and cultural structures, processes and relations across a range of human problems including inequality, illness, poverty, the environment, issues of power and control, violence and war.
