Students from TAFE and other universities

At USQ we think TAFE graduates make great university students, as they’ve got practical knowledge in their field and are already in the study groove. Students from other universities are also welcome to study courses (subjects) at USQ - so we have made it easy for everyone to apply.

TAFE students

At USQ you’ll not only be welcomed directly into a wide variety of our degree programs that are listed under our formal articulation agreement, you may even get credit for the study you’ve completed.

Can I get into uni using my TAFE qualification?

Many students who didn't successfully complete Year 12 can use their TAFE qualification as a stepping stone to university. If you have received one of the following qualifications from TAFE, or a recognised institution, you meet USQ’s entry requirements.

Diploma/Advanced Diploma - an Advanced Diploma qualifies you for entry to USQ and satisfies our English requirement. This qualification will make your university application competitive for many programs - you may even be eligible for credit toward your degree.
Certificate III - a Certificate III is the minimum requirement for USQ entry but in many cases a diploma or higher is required. You must also satisfy our English requirement. If you have a certificate III, completing certain TAFE communication units or the STAT Written English test are ways of showing competence in English.

How do I apply?

You can apply directly by completing our online application form. Applicants must also supply the completed TAFE qualification certificate and transcripts with their application.

Students from other universities

If you are studying at another university you can undertake approved courses (subjects) at USQ for credit towards your home university degree.

How do I apply?

How you apply depends on what type of student you are.

If you are a domestic student and have a Commonwealth supported place at your home university, you will need to complete the cross institutional application form (PDF 98 KB).
If you are an international student, or a domestic student who pays full tuition fees, you will need to apply through the Office of Continuing and Professional Education (ContEd).

When do I need to apply by?

Applications for Semester 2, 2012 closed on Friday 6 July, 2012
To start in Semester 3, 2012 submit your application by Monday 29 October, 2012
To start in Semester 1, 2013 submit your application by Monday 11 February, 2013
