Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP)

The Indigenous Higher Education Pathways Program (IHEPP) has been developed to give students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent access to tertiary preparation skills with an Indigenous focus. USQ wants to give everyone an opportunity to follow their university dreams, and the IHEPP program is just one way to help you on that journey.

If you do not have the correct school qualifications, or you have been out of formal education for a while and feel your skills are a bit rusty, IHEPP will help you develop the skills you need. There are no formal entry requirements, but you will need to undertake a selection-testing program in order to assess your literacy and numeracy levels.

About IHEPP

How will I study?

IHEPP is only offered via distance education, so you can complete the program around your other commitments. You can study at your own pace, at any time of the day, at any location. If you are studying full-time, you will need to attend a compulsory on-campus residential schools which are held twice each semester. But don’t worry! When you enroll in IHEPP we will provide with all of the information you need.

How long does it take?

IHEPP can be completed within 6-8 months full-time, or 12-18 months part-time, but this does not mean your USQ journey ends here. Successful completion of IHEPP may lead to entry into a USQ undergraduate (first degree) program, increased employment opportunities, and the opportunity to apply for entry into other universities.

How much does it cost?

There are no program fees for students undertaking IHEPP! You may also be entitled for Abstudy assistance, to cover some of the other costs of university.

What will I study?
