Work experience and previous study
At USQ we understand that everyone’s path to university is different. You may have come to us via other unis, TAFEs or private providers and even one or two employers. We know that your skills and knowledge come not only through study, but also through practice and on the job learning. So that’s why we take into account both prior study and work experience when you apply for a program.
If you come to us via another university, TAFE (or another recognised private provider), or perhaps one or two employers, you may be eligible for credit for previous study and work experience. Credits, exemptions or recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a way for you to reduce the number of courses (subjects) you need to study to finish your particular program.
Credits, exemptions and RPL
If you have studied or worked previously, you are probably eligible for credits or exemptions.
Find what credit you may be eligible to receive for your previous TAFE Queensland studies at the TAFE Credit Database.
Otherwise lodge an Exemption Claim Form to find out if your previous study or work can be attributed to your course (you can lodge this form before you apply to study).
Documentation that you may need to provide includes academic transcripts, previous qualification certificates, course outlines, and your resumé. Please provide original certified copies of original documents and forward your application to:
