Will I have enough time to study?
Each USQ program will have different study requirements; however a general guide is to allow a minimum of 10 hours per week for each course. If you are studying a full workload, study time required would be equivalent to a full time job.
This may sound a little daunting – but think about it like this.
If you are studying two courses this semester by distance – that’s about 20 hours of study per week (this is averaged out to include your intensive study before exams). You could get up an extra hour early each week day (or in the evenings instead of TV), study during your commute to and from work, read for half an hour each day in your lunch break , study for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon at your child’s soccer match – and then for a couple of hours on Sunday morning while the cartoons are on – and you’ve done your 20 hours! Not so hard after all!
If you are studying on-campus, you are likely to have at least 2 to 3 contact hours per week per course in the form of lectures, tutorials or laboratory classes. Your private study time for each course will be 7 to 8 hours. This time will be required for class preparation, assessment work and revision.
