Guidance Counselling

Guidance and Counselling plays a vital role in education settings; identifying potential barriers to learning, developing and assisting learners to overcome these barriers, assisting their transition from education to work, or supporting a transition into higher education or into further career opportunities.

As an educator in Guidance and Counselling, you will work with learners, their families and throughout the site community, advocating for and supporting the welfare of the individuals you care for.

Postgraduate studies in the specialisation of Guidance and Counselling will prepare you for work as a guidance officer, guidance counsellor or school counsellor. Opportunities can be sought across a range of education settings, including schools, adult learning environments and within industry.

Programs with a focus on this specialisation generally meet the registration criteria for the Queensland Guidance Counselling Association (affiliated with the Psychotherapy and Counsellors Federation of Australia) and the Australian Counselling Association.
