Flexible study options

At USQ we know that you have priorities other than studying and will require a work/life balance. We provide you with the opportunity to look at the number of courses you study each semester, swap between on-campus study and online (distance education), to option to study over three semesters.

Full-time

This means you are taking a full-time study load (typically three to four courses per semester) and should complete your study in the recommended number of years.

Part-time

This means studying one or two courses per semester. This will allow you fit your study into your life, work and family commitments.

During the summer semester

Some classes may be held during the summer teaching period. Subject to course availability, you can study all year round, instead of just studying in semester one and two. This may allow you to finish some programs sooner.

Intensive mode workshops

The Springfield campus offers intensive mode teaching in many postgraduate programs (which may vary from course to course), as well as in some undergraduate courses offered in semester three. The intensive mode of on-campus study is an enhanced form of distance education.

Comprehensive study materials are provided and intensive teaching blocks condense a full semester's lectures into two 3-day workshops where materials are reviewed, case studies are examined and leading industry practitioners share their experiences and skills. Students complete all other aspects of the course away from the campus

On-campus

We have three campuses at ToowoombaSpringfield and Fraser Coast. You will need to attend lectures, tutorials and workshops on-campus as part of your study.

Online (distance education)

You are sent all your study materials and complete your program (degree) without having to attend classes on-campus. Many materials may be available online and students undertaking online (distance) study can talk with their lecturer, participate in study groups with other students and even download lecturers notes wherever you are.

On-campus and distance (online) education

This is a mix of both on-campus and  online (distance) modes. This works really well if you have to work and live within commuting distance of our campuses - it effectively gives you the best of both worlds.
