What about us?

You’ve fed them, clothed them, raised them and been with them through thick ‘n’ thin. Now all of a sudden they’re off to uni. It’s a big step, not just for them but for you too. We get this. At USQ a lot of our students are the first in their family to go to uni, that’s why we make it easy for parents and loved ones to get involved and be part of the uni experience.

There are plenty of options available to keep you in the loop.

A great start is to come along with your son, daughter, husband or wife on a campus tour, open day and information night.

This way you can get a feel of what USQ is like together.

Just like our students you’re also welcome to contact a Student Relationship Officer for a chat, they can’t give you any confidential info but they can help out with advice regarding student services.

If you have questions about expenses, take a look at our costs video, it runs through everything including payment options.

You can access transport and medical info on our website along with a Family Guide that has tips on how to further support your student through uni.

And of course, you’re welcome to come to information sessions, open days and orientation.

My family is really supportive, umm, my mum especially – like this is sort of a first experience for her as well, so she’s with me all the way and she tries these cute little relaxation exercises and what not, it just, yeah just the fact that she’s trying so hard is what, you know, makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

The fact is, as a parent or loved one you’re part of the uni experience too—you’re the coffee maker, the proof reader, the moral support!

In the end you’ll probably feel like you deserve a USQ degree yourself!

So if you’ve got questions, and your budding student isn’t giving you quite enough details, don’t be afraid to give us a call, we’re happy to help.

When you’re in a relationship, your better half is there for the ride every step of the way and even sitting down for a coffee on a Saturday morning, she will turn to me, smile and say I hope you realise just how proud I am of what you’re doing.
