Applying for credit for previous study or work

On entry to an award program, a student may be granted exemptions/transfer of credit for relevant tertiary studies successfully completed in the last 10 years, or work experience and job training deemed equivalent in objectives, standard or content.

How to apply

Students who wish to apply for exemptions, must submit the Exemption claim form (PDF 61 kb), ensuring they attach all necessary supporting documentation. Applications should then be forwarded to:

Student Administration
University of Southern Queensland
Toowoomba Qld 4350

Due to the volume of applications at the beginning of each semester, students are urged to submit their applications promptly especially if they are claiming an exemption, or transfer of credit, which is a pre-requisite or co-requisite for a course they wish to study the following semester.

Supporting documentation

Applicants need to supply certified documentation as applications will not be considered until this has been received. Details of completed studies and employment must be supported by certified documentary evidence, which requires a signature by a:

  • Justice of the Peace
  • Commissioner for Declarations
  • solicitor or barrister
  • police officer
  • teacher
  • member of permanent academic staff of a tertiary institution
  • member of staff of USQ Student Administration
  • USQ agency staff member.
