Flexible study modes

Flexible study modes provide an alternative to traditional classroom programs. Depending on the chosen program, students may choose to study:

  • on-campus at the Toowoomba Campus, Fraser Coast Campus, Springfield Campus or the Bretten Centre, Germany
  • off-campus
  • online
  • or a combination of all three.

Off-campus and online study allows students to live and work where they choose, and means that you can study where you want and when you want. Because of this flexibility, USQ has students located all over Australia and in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Tailor your studies to meet your needs

Depending on your program of study, USQ may offer the flexibility to:

Fast-track your studies

USQ offers three-semesters of on-campus teaching each year, which allows students to finish some programs sooner.

Traditionally most students study four courses in Semester 1 and four in Semester 2 each year. At USQ, students can also study an additional two or three courses in Semster 3. This enables them to take months off the length of their program.

Load spread your workload

Students studying at USQ's Springfield campus may choose to spread their normal workload across three semesters.

Load spreading enables students to choose to study across three semesters rather than the traditional two. For example, students may choose to study three courses in Semester 1, three courses in Semester 2 and two courses in Semester 3. This may better suit the personal and work commitments of many students.

Attend intensive mode workshops #

USQ Springfield offers ‘intensive mode’ teaching in many postgraduate programs, as well as in some of the undergraduate courses offered in semester three.  The intensive mode of on-campus study is an enhanced form of distance education run at USQ Springfield.  Comprehensive study materials are provided and intensive teaching blocks condense a full semester's lectures into two 3-day workshops where materials are reviewed, case studies are examined and leading industry practitioners share their experiences and skills.  Students complete all other aspects of the course away from the campus.  The intensive mode delivery enables you to benefit from peer to peer learning while giving you the flexibility to balance your study, work and lifestyle.
