High school students

Whether you have made the decision to come to university, or whether you are still deciding what you want to do after leaving school, we can help.

What can I study after I finish school?

USQ offers a wide range of progams in many different fields. The most difficult thing is choosing which one is right for you!

Because USQ is not a traditional university, it means you have a choice of locations and modes of study. You might like to think about where you are located, how much time you have to study, and what mode of study (distance or on-campus) would suit you best.

I'm still at school - can I study at uni now?

If you are in year 11 or just started year 12 you may be eligible for the Head Start program. Have a chat to your guidance or career counsellor at school about the Head Start Program.

  • The Head Start program is designed for high achieving students who are nominated by their school.
  • You will complete a course (subject) at USQ alongside first year students, giving you a real university experience.
  • You get a head start in your chosen degree.
  • You will not be charged a tuition fee for your first course if you attend a partner school. (Students from non-partner schools have to pay tuition fees.)
  • Guaranteed entry into a USQ program will be awarded to students who successfully complete a Head Start course (students must also meet pre-requisites for their intended program).
  • Upon successful completion of a Head Start course, full academic credit is awarded towards a related program at USQ.

The Head Start program is offered through all three of our campuses - ToowoombaSpringfield, and Fraser Coast - as well as via Distance Education throughout Queensland.
