Academic career

A grouping of all academic work undertaken by a student that is grouped into a single student record.  Academic Career groupings include undergraduate, postgraduate, non-award and research.

Undergraduate

A first degree which may be a Certificate, Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor program.

Postgraduate and research

A higher degree program, undertaken by students who have been awarded a first degree. Postgraduate programs include: 

  • Graduate/ Postgraduate Certificate
  • Graduate/Postgraduate Diploma
  • Masters and Doctoral programs.

Postgraduate study may take the form of coursework, research, or a combination of both.

Non-award

An academic program which does not lead to an award and which comprises a course or courses of study which:

  1. are from an academic program or programs at the University
  2. are able to be counted as credit towards some academic program at the University by all students who complete the course or courses of study.
