Student learning entitlement (SLE)
An entitlement that gives eligible students access to a commonwealth supported place, also known as SLE. In broad terms, a person starts with an SLE equivalent to seven years of full-time study. This is reduced as the person undertakes units of study as a Commonwealth supported student.
Additional student learning entitlement
An extra amount of SLE provided to some students. The amount of additional SLE students receive depends on the program in which they are enrolled and whether they have used additional SLE in the past. Additional SLE will be provided by the Commonwealth Government to eligible students enrolling in an undergraduate program which runs longer than six years such as honours programs, graduate entry bachelor degrees, and a small number of postgraduate tuition / direct fee programs.
Available student learning entitlement
The amount of SLE that a student has not yet consumed, minus SLE associated with courses they are concurrently enrolled but for which the census date has not yet passed.
Ordinary student learning entitlement
The type of SLE that eligible students receive when they first commence higher education. All students (new and continuing) start with an ordinary SLE of seven Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (EFTSL) - the equivalent of seven years of normal full time study.
