About us

The Go Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (Go WEST) project provides support for female USQ students and professionals in the discipline areas of Science (including Maths), Engineering and Technology (SET) where females are traditionally under-represented.

The Go WEST project aims to:

• establish a university wide network to build cross-discipline links to foster the success of academics and students in SET
• provide a virtual support structure of professionals and academics
• identify female SET students concerns and priorities
• implement strategies to address student issues
• link network members to the Queensland Government Office of Women and industry initiatives
• establish mentoring relationships with SET students
• estabish an annual Go WEST awards scheme
• maintain a community collaborative site for students, professional women and academics in SET disciplines
• administer Go WEST Equity and Social Justice and Go WEST Women in Engineering or Surveying scholarships.
