Arrow Energy Best of the WEST Awards

Awards categories and selection criteria

All applications are judged on evidence of success in the following areas:

  1. Nominee’s current or recently completed project/s in the relevant environment; ie school, tertiary education, academic or professional environments
  2. Nominee’s achievements and activities in the relevant environment
  3. Nominee’s relevant extracurricular activities.

In addition to the above, applications are judged on evidence of success in at least three of the following criteria relevant to the award category:

Arrow Energy Brighter Futures Award

This category will recognise achievements of students in OAC programs who have aspirations to move into higher education in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

  4. Demonstrated interest in pursuing further study in STEM
  5. Statement of career goals and why the applicant is interested in applying for the Award.

Go WEST Primary School Student Award

This category will recognise the achievements of Primary school students in Science (including Mathematics), Engineering and Surveying or Technology.

  2. Project achievements/outcomes
  3. Active leadership in relevant school groups
  4. Contribution to the community.

Go WEST Secondary School Student Award

This category will recognise the achievements of Secondary school students in Science (including Mathematics), Engineering and Surveying or Technology.

  4. Contribution to the community.

Go WEST USQ Student Award – Engineering and Surveying

This category will recognise the achievements of USQ students in Engineering and Surveying.

  5. Contribution to the community.

Go WEST USQ Student Award - Sciences

This category will recognise the achievements of USQ students in the Sciences, including the Biomedical Sciences, but excluding Nursing and Psychology.

Go WEST USQ Student Award - Mathematics

This category will recognise the achievements of USQ students in Mathematics and Statistics.

Go WEST USQ Student Award - Technology

Go WEST USQ Student Award - Community Involvement

This category will recognise the achievements of USQ students within their communities that are having a positive impact in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Surveying or Technology.

This category will recognise the achievements of educators, trainers, professional and/or business women in the fields of Engineering and Surveying.

Go WEST Professional/Business Award - Innovation inDigital Futures

This category will recognise the achievements of educators, trainers, professional and/or business women making significant contributions to the development and application of new and emerging technologies.

This category will recognise the achievements of educators, trainers, professional and/or business women where they have had a demonstrable impact on the ability of females to access education or training in the areas of Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Technology.

This category will recognise the achievements of educators, trainers, professional and/or business women where they have had a demonstrable positive impact on community in the fields of Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Technology.

This category will recognise the achievements of a USQ staff member or student that had established or initiated a partnership with a relevant organisation in a field connected to the Go WEST principles and values.

This category will recognise the achievements of a USQ staff member or student who has made a significant contribution to the development and application of new and emerging technologies in a teaching and learning context.
