Program Objectives

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Computing provides an opportunity for graduates in programs other than computing to gain skills and knowledge in key areas of computing which relate to their needs and the needs of their profession or industry.

Admission Requirements

Entry requirements are identical to those for the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing. Please refer to the entry for that program for details.

Program Structure

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Computing consists of eight courses each of one unit.

Students will select, with the approval of the Postgraduate Coordinator, a coherent combination of courses, at least four of which must be from Levels 3 and 4 or higher in the table shown under the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing entry.

IT Requirements

Computing requirements are identical to those for the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing. Please refer to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing entry for details.

The University is installing a wireless network for students' computers. In order to take advantage of this facility and further enhance their on-campus learning environment, students should consider purchasing a notebook/laptop computer with wireless connectivity. A notebook/laptop may be required for some courses.

Articulation

The Faculty of Sciences offers an articulating sequence of postgraduate programs in professional computing. These are the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing, the Graduate Diploma of Professional Computing and the Master of Professional Computing.

The Graduate Diploma of Professional Computing is an eight-unit program, which must be completed within four years of first enrolment in the program or first enrolment in the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing.

Exemptions

The only credits that may be given towards the program will be for USQ courses at level 3 or higher which have contributed to the Graduate Certificate in Professional Computing. Such courses may be credited towards the Master of Professional Computing.
