Program focus
Students will complete two majors from the Bachelor of Arts
and one eight course major from the Bachelor of Science. Students
will also need to meet all the major requirements for both degrees.
This combination will require a total of four years of full-time study
or up to nine years of part-time study.

How to apply
Domestic students
Application for undergraduate programs may be made through
the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). The same procedure
applies whether you plan to study on-campus or by distance education.
If you completed Year 12 at a Queensland secondary school you
will be assessed for entry on the basis of your Overall Position (OP)
or equivalent score. Year 12 students from other states or territories
are considered for entry on the basis of their UAI, ENTER or TER and
the subject prerequisites indicated. Other applicants will be based
on their overall Rank. You should ensure you submit your application
by the closing dates.
International students
This program is offered to international students. An international
student is a person who is not an Australian or New Zealand citizen
and not an Australian permanent resident. Please refer to USQ International for information about entry requirements, visa arrangements and
how to apply.

Program fees
Commonwealth supported place
A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government
makes a contribution towards the cost of your higher education and
you as a student pay a student contribution
amount, which varies depending on the courses undertaken. You
are able to calculate the fees for a particular course via the Course Fee Finder.
Commonwealth Supported students may be eligible to defer their
fees through a Government loan called HECS-HELP.
International full fee paying place
International students pay full
fees. Full fees vary depending on the courses that are taken
and whether they are studied on-campus, via distance education/online.

The program comprises 32 units as follows:

The core is made up as follows:

The Arts component shall comprise:
(At least two units from each major must be at third year level)
Science Studies
The Science component shall comprise:
Either
-
an eight-unit discipline based major chosen from the majors
under the Bachelor of Science (i.e. Biology,
Computing, Mathematics, Psychology or Statistics)
-
a four-unit study selected from one discipline offered by the
Faculty of Sciences. This four-unit study may or may not be in the
same discipline as in the eight-unit Science major
Or
-
• a twelve-unit discipline based major chosen from the
majors under the Bachelor of Science (i.e. Psychology or Information
Technology)
-
and a further two units of Faculty of Sciences approved electives
which may either extend the studies already selected or may be in
additional Science discipline areas.
Additional Requirements - Science
-
At least two units of study in the Science component must be
at third level.

• Students majoring in Computing (8-unit major) or Information
Technology (12-unit major) must complete CSC1401 as one of their two
science electives.

Students not completing the major in Mathematics (eight-unit
major) or Statistics (eight-unit major), must complete the course MAT1100 Foundation Mathematics or the course MAT1100 Foundation Mathematics or MAT1102 Algebra and Calculus I. Students may need
to take this course as one of their two science electives.

Candidates completing a major in Mathematics or Statistics will
not be given credit towards their award for the course MAT1100 Foundation Mathematics.

Recommended enrolment pattern

Students will normally take the core course CMS1000 Communication and Scholarship in Semester 1 and STA2300 Data Analysis in Semester 2 as
well as another approved core course in each of their first two semesters.

Students will normally start the first Arts major in Semester
1 of first year and continue it in Semester 2 of first year. The second
Arts major is usually started in Semester 1 of second year.

The Science major is usually started in Semester 1 of first
year and continued in Semester 2 of first year. The Science minor
study is usually started in second year subject to timetabling constraints.

Elective courses are usually taken in third or fourth years
unless required as pre-requisites.
