Program focus
This program offers a pathway into the University for student
from non-English speaking backgrounds who have not completed their
secondary education. It includes business related courses as well
as English language and university preparation courses.

Program aims
The Program aims to provide an efficient pathway to an undergraduate
degree program for young Non-English Speaking Background students
whose academic achievements do not meet Australian university entry
requirements to undergraduate programs. The Program addresses discipline
content to meet the educational criteria for tertiary entrance and
prepares students for the university culture and its communication
demands.

Program objectives
On completion of USQ Foundation Studies Program, students should
demonstrate:

adjustment to, and an understanding of, the academic cultural
context of the university
-
capacity to take control of their own learning by using appropriate
learning strategies
-
confidence and ability to think critically and to analyse an
argument
-
competence in accessing and communicating concepts and ideas
in spoken and written form as appropriate to the higher education
context
-
competence in a selected discipline area, which meets pre-requisites
for entry into an undergraduate degree
-
a capacity to establish working relationships with their lecturers
and other students.

Admission requirements
Students will have completed the equivalent of Australian Year
11 in their home countries.
An English language level equivalent of IELTS 5.5 is required.
If an IELTS score is provided, it must be from a test taken within
12 months of the time of application. Students who do not have the
required level of English can be enrolled in an intensive English
course to meet the required level of English, before enrolling in
Foundation Studies Program. Please note that the intensive English
course must be done before starting Foundation Studies Program.
An application form must be completed in full and returned to the International
Office along with certified copies of the student's academic
record and English language level.

Program fees
International full fee paying place
International students pay full fees. Full fees vary depending
on the courses that are taken and whether they are studied on-campus,
via distance education/online. You are able to calculate the fees
for a particular course via the Course Fee Finder.

Program structure
The Program is divided into two parts: Foundation Studies I
and Foundation Studies II.
Foundation Studies I (14 weeks):
Week 14 is exam week.
Foundation II (UNIPREP) (14 weeks):*
and one of the following:
Week 14 is exam week.

Program completion requirements
To successfully pass the program and be recommended for degree
studies to a USQ faculty, students must pass all eight courses in
the Program and achieve a B grade or higher inUNP7320. Students failing courses in FSP I are
required to retake those courses and seek recommendations from the
Head of Program - Foundation Studies Program regarding a suitable
pathway to complete their Foundation Program. Students failing courses
in FSP II are required to retake those courses and seek recommendations
from the Head of Program - Foundation Studies Program regarding a
suitable pathway to gain entry to degree studies.
