Program focus
The Bachelor of Theatre Arts (Honours) aims to produce graduates
who will have an advanced understanding of the nature and impact of
drama and theatre in human society; who will be proficient in critical
analysis and problem solving relating to the theory and performance
of dramatic texts and to the intersection between theory and practice.
Honours provides motivated, high achieving students with an extra
year of study to explore an area of interest in a more intensive capacity
than is possible in the Bachelor of Theatre Arts. Courses are aimed
at developing skills in communication (oral and written), critical
thinking, and research methodology, applicable to a range of career
opportunities. As part of the program, students will also write an
Honours dissertation on a topic of their choosing, of between 12000
and 15000 words, under the guidance of a supervisor. Honours is also
the traditional gateway to postgraduate study for those students seeking
to enrol in a Masters or PhD.
