Program focus
This double degree provides students with the opportunity to
expand their knowledge in the accounting, sustainable business and
business fields. The Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business
is a set program of study so students can only select one major from
the Bachelor of Commerce.

available to students undertaking the double degree as these majors
are incorporated in the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business program.
Not all Bachelor of Commerce majors are available
in on-campus mode at Springfield.
** Students undertaking The Corporate Social Responsibility
major can co-enrol with the City University of Seattle (CityU) in
the USA and can gain full credit towards the CityU’s Bachelor
of Science in Business Administration, thereby receiving three degrees
from their studies at USQ. Electing to participate in the credit guarantee
option from CityU requires no additional academic work and only requires
that students apply to CityU at the beginning of their first semester
of studies at USQ, and meet certain academic and administrative requirements.

Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business
The double degree provides students with a wide range of employment
opportunities including, public accountant, chartered accountant,
company accountant, company secretary, financial administrator, government
(tax department, audit office, treasury, local government), investment
adviser, financial institutions (banks, building societies), forensic
accountant.
Bachelor of Commerce
Business Law major
Legal studies teacher (with further study), public service,
company secretary, government departments, non-government agencies,
legal organisations and careers outside law.
Corporate Social Responsibility major
Business development manager, policy advisor, business consultant,
governance manager, social responsibility manager and careers related
to business social responsibility and governance.
Finance major
Financial services, banker, insurance, financial adviser, funds
manager, financial analyst, industrial analyst, investment analyst,
investment banker, security analyst, underwriter, options/futures
trader, treasury, foreign exchange trader/officer, share trader, lending
officer, finance officer, corporate or policy adviser, business consultant,
research officer, business economist.
General Commerce major
Financial analyst, investment banker, financial accountant,
forensic accountant, stockbroker, small business manager.
Information Technology Management major
Business analyst, systems analyst, data architect, business
process/data modeller, enterprise resource planning (ERP) analyst,
change manager, business process engineer, IT project manager, consultant,
business continuity (BCM) specialist, IT security specialist knowledge
and expertise in sustainable business practices, management accounting,
financial reporting and economic analysis.
Sustainable Economics and Policy major
Economics research officer, economics consultant, market researcher,
trade commission services, banking industry trainee, money market
operator, business economist.

Professional accreditation
Accounting major graduates will meet the educational entrance
requirements of CPA Australia and The Institute
of Chartered Accountants in Australia (ICAA). This provides
Associate membership of CPA Australia, eligibility to study the CPA
Australia professional exams and eligibility to study the ICAA professional
exams.
Students who complete the Finance minor in the Bachelor of Commerce
will meet the educational entrance requirements of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia
(Finsia). Finance major graduates will meet the educational
entrance requirements to become an Associate member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia
(Finsia).
The Information Technology Management major within the Bachelor
of Commerce is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society and,
through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.

Program aims
The Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable
Business provides a sound foundation in all aspects of accounting
and sustainable business. These degrees are vocationally oriented
emphasising the sustainable management and resolution of business
problems in both private and public sectors.

Admission requirements

How to apply
Domestic students
Application for undergraduate programs may be made through
the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC). The same procedure
applies whether you plan to study on-campus or by distance education.
If you completed Year 12 at a Queensland secondary school you
will be assessed for entry on the basis of your Overall Position (OP)
or equivalent score. Year 12 students from other states or territories
are considered for entry on the basis of their UAI, ENTER or TER and
the subject prerequisites indicated. Other applicants will be based
on their overall Rank.
International students
This program is offered to international students. An international
student is a person who is not an Australian or New Zealand citizen
and not an Australian permanent resident. Please refer to USQ International for information about entry requirements, visa arrangements and
how to apply.

Program fees
Commonwealth supported place
A Commonwealth supported place is where the Australian Government
makes a contribution towards the cost of your higher education and
you as a student pay a student contribution amount, which varies depending on the
courses undertaken. You are able to calculate the fees for a particular
course via the Course Fee Finder.
Commonwealth Supported students may
be eligible to defer their fees through a Government loan called HECS-HELP.
Domestic full fee paying place
Domestic full fee paying places are funded entirely through
the full fees paid by the student. Full fees vary depending on the
courses that are taken. You are able to calculate the fees for a particular
course via the Course Fee Finder.
Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders,
Permanent Resident visa holders and New Zealand citizens who reside
outside Australia pay full tuition fees.
Domestic full fee paying
students may be eligible to defer their fees through a Government
loan called FEE-HELP.
International full fee paying place
International students pay full fees. Full fees vary depending
on the courses that are taken and whether they are studied on-campus,
via distance education/online. You are able to calculate the fees
for a particular course via the Course Fee Finder.

Program completion requirements
To be eligible to graduate with the Bachelor of Commerce and
Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business, students must complete
(or be awarded credit for prior equivalent study of) all 32 courses
as outlined above.
Where credit for prior study is awarded, a student must complete
at least 8 courses from the Bachelor of Commerce and at least 8 courses from the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business
(16 in total) to be eligible to graduate with the Bachelor
of Commerce and Bachelor of Sustainable Business double degree.

Required time limits
Students have a maximum of 9 years to complete this program.

Exit points
Students must maintain good standing in this program (see Other
program requirements section). Students not wishing to complete the
Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business
program may be permitted to exit with one of the following:
Students may exit with the Diploma of Business Administration
if they have completed 8 courses as follows:
Students may exit with the Associate Degree of Business
if they have completed 16 courses as follows:
Students may exit with either the Bachelor of Accounting and Sustainable Business
or Bachelor of Commerce providing
they have completed all the requirements for the program.

Exemptions
Exemptions may be permitted for a limited number of courses,
equivalent in content and level, successfully completed recently with
a recognised institution, in accordance with Section 3.5 of the USQ Enrolment
Policy.
Each claim will be assessed on individual merit in line with
the Faculty's Exemptions policies. Exemptions approved in this program
will not automatically apply to other programs offered by USQ.
Where exemptions are granted, maximum and minimum duration will
be adjusted in the same proportion as exemptions, for example, where
8 exemptions are granted, maximum time will be 6 years and minimum
time will be 4 terms.
Note: Accounting professional bodies may have restrictions
on exemptions so students are advised to seek current information
from these bodies before applying for exemptions.
