For domestic students who are offered Commonwealth supported places, the Government pays some money directly to the University, but students are also required to make a contribution. This contribution is called the ‘student contribution’. For more information about student contribution amounts, including the calculation of fees for a particular program of study, refer to USQ fees.
International fees
International students pay tuition fees. For details about international student fees, refer to the International Fee Schedule provided by USQ International.

Program structure
For students undertaking eight units of study, to be awarded the Bachelor of Education Studies in the Faculty of Education, a student must have normally completed 8 units at undergraduate level 4. Under exceptional circumstances, at the discretion of the Program Coordinator, two units may be completed at level 3 and two units may be completed at postgraduate level 5.
For students undertaking 16 units of study, not more than two units may be at level 2, no more than two units may be at level 5 and at least four units must be at level 4. The remainder must be at levels 3 or 4.
| Duration: | Up to a maximum of 5 years |
| Mode of Offering: | External only |
| Units: | Maximum of 16 units |

Exemptions
Exemptions may be available for current and equivalent studies and/or professional development activities. Those who hold a formal tertiary level two or three-year teaching qualification will be eligible for eight units of advanced standing in lieu of introductory level education courses normally undertaken in the first half of the program.
Graduates in other disciplines who are using this program to obtain their first education credential will not be eligible for such advanced standing and will be required to complete sixteen units.
In the appropriate circumstances, cross-institutional enrolment is supported and usually approved upon application. Students should note that at least eight units of study must be undertaken through the University of Southern Queensland before graduation will be approved. Up to a maximum of eight units of exemptions may be granted in lieu of current and equivalent studies and/or professional development activities.

Enrolment
Students who do not hold a formal tertiary level two or three-year teaching qualification will enrol in 8 units of study towards introductory level education subjects; these are normally negotiated upon enrolment and are undertaken in the first half of this program. Those who do hold a formal tertiary level two or three-year teaching qualification will receive advanced standing in this area. A further two units must be selected from the Core Studies in Education strand and the remaining six units from the Electives strand (see below). While the elective subjects are usually drawn from the Faculty of Education there may be times when a student decides to select some of these from other Faculties within USQ or even cross-institutionally if appropriate.
