USQ collective bargaining group
The University has commenced negotiations with representative Unions with a view to developing an Enterprise Agreement. Regular meetings will be held over the upcoming months and staff advised of progress through the Enterprise Bargaining Distribution List.

Salary increase
Whilst negotiations continue throughout 2009, the Vice-Chancellor has approved a 3.5% salary increase for all academic and general staff covered by the Certified Agreement effective from 6 June 2009.
Legislative changes
As a requirement of the new Fair Work Act 2009, the University must now advise staff of their right to be represented by a bargaining representative during enterprise bargaining negotiations or in a matter before Fair Work Australia about bargaining for the Agreement. Protected Action Ballot
Fair Work Australia (FWA) has ordered that a ballot (PDF 22kb) be conducted at USQ to determine whether members of the National Tertiary Education Industry Union (NTEU) support the taking of industrial action.
