About the Equity Office
The Equity Office is located within Human Resources on the 4th floor of S block at the Toowoomba Campus.
Assistance
There is a number of Equity contacts across campus who are able to provide services and advice to staff on a wide range of equity issues.
Mission
The mission of the Equity Office is to achieve, as part of the University of Southern Queensland's commitment to excellence in employment and education, equality of opportunity in the employment of staff and to assist in providing access to equity in tertiary education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Objectives

To ensure that USQ complies with the requirements of relevant affirmative action and anti-discrimination legislation and government policies.

To ensure that the skills and abilities of staff are measured equitably.

To ensure that judgements pertaining to staff and students are based on merit, rather than on stereotypes or discriminatory values, thus encouraging an organisational climate that will attract and retain staff and students of the highest calibre and maximise their contribution to the University.

To ensure that all complaints in the area of equity and diversity are dealt with by the Section promptly, efficiently and on a confidential basis.

To enhance the accountability of its activities and USQ performance in the area of equity and diversity by full and timely reporting to internal and external bodies.
