Reflecting on your experience and learning
When you consider people spend about 75% of their adult awake time doing work related activity, it is important to recall the valuable learning and experiences gained during this time. By doing so, you ensure that these learnings and experiences contribute to our reflection on what we have achieved and place us in a better position to consider where we want to go in the future. The ePortfolio will assist you with the recording of your personal and professional learning and experience as soon as it happens. This will ensure that your information is accurate and up to date whenever you need it.
Reflecting on your experience
When selecting experiences to include in your ePortfolio, you do not have to focus exclusively on experiences that you've had whilst working at USQ. You should also consider experiences drawn from other areas of your life, such as any previous employment, university or other study, voluntary work, sports and hobbies, travel, family responsibilities, community-based activities, social or special interest clubs, and creative pursuits.
If you reflect on your experience using the 'My Resume' area of your ePortfolio, you can record such things as cover letter information, interests, employment history, education history, certifications, accreditations and awards and professional memberships.
An example can be found in the Sample ePortfolio section.
Reflecting on your learning
Certain experiences will help you develop new skills, improve existing abilities, or deepen your understanding. These types of experiences contribute to your personal learning and development. This learning and development builds personal and professional skills and provides avenues for future goals and learnings to ensure continued development of these skills.
The 'My Skills' and 'My Goals' area of the ePortfolio is a great place to start to help you keep track of those important skills and goals which will enable you to plan for future professional and personal development and keep your details up to date at all times.
An example can be found in the Sample ePortfolio section.
The next step after reflecting on your learning and experience is recording these details in your ePortfolio.
