HR professional staff development program

The HR Professional Staff Development Program has been developed to provide learning and development opportunities for all USQ employees aimed at increasing their skills, broadening experience and enhancing future career opportunities.  Additionally from an organisational perspective, this robust and vibrant program is aimed at contributing to the retention of talented employees and boosting productivity through engagement. 

Most courses are offered on campus in Toowoomba only, however employees at the Fraser Coast and Springfield campuses are encouraged to speak with their supervisor regarding attendance in the first instance. Human Resources will assess the viability of requests to conduct training on either campus on a case by case basis. If your work group is interested in any of these courses and would like to undertake any program as a unit, for further details please contact the Manager (Organisational Development).

How to register

Registration is online through the VTME professional development website* either by an individual employee or by a manager/supervisor on behalf of their employees. First time users should refer to information on how to access course information and register their participation. 

*Access requires a USQ username and password.

Cost

Unless stipulated, all programs are available to USQ employees at no cost, under full sponsorship by Human Resources and the Vice-Chancellor. However please note that a $50 'no-show' fee will apply where a registered participant withdraws without notice from sessions which are facilitated by external presenters. Occasionally a session may be made non-viable by late cancellations. As this may incur presenters' costs the 'no show' fee is necessary. Forty-eight (48) hours' notice of withdrawal is required except in exceptional circumstances.

Other development programs

In addition to the HR Professional Staff Development Program, employees are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the range of information provided through Learning and Teaching Support and the Division of ICT Services which complement the information offered by Organisational Development, and should also peruse the range of education and training activities offered by the Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM).
