Copyright Information Session

For:

For all who use a photocopier or print from the internet. 

Course Aims:

Find your way around the copyright maze - what it is, ownership, breaches, penalties and limits on what and how much you can copy.  Also find out about the rules in relation to electronic copying. 

Key Objectives:  

At the conclusion of the course participants will:

  • Know what Intellectual Property is
  • See why Intellectual Property is important
  • Know the different types of Intellectual Property
  • Know the general legalities of Intellectual Property
  • Recognize breaches of Intellectual Property
  • See what action an aggrieved person can take
  • Be thankful there are defences
  • Be relieved that there is insurance cover
  • Know the record keeping procedures for print and broadcast copying.

Course Outline:

In a discussion group atmosphere, participants will learn the importance of copyright, the laws relating to the rights, ownership, infringement and remedies of copyright.  The ownership issue for USQ employees and students often arises, and so the USQ IP policy will also be discussed. 

Materials:

Each participant will receive a copy of the presentation to serve as a reference source.
