An employee may be transferred or seconded to a suitable position within the University.
An internal transfer takes place on a continuing basis and means an employee permanently moves from one position in the organisation to another without participating in a formal recruitment exercise. The University may transfer an employee to fill a position only if that employee was initially selected for appointment at the University through a competitive selection process. Transfers will only occur where there is agreement between the employee, the Executive Director, Human Resources and the relevant Delegate or Vice-Chancellor as appropriate.
Secondments occur when an employee moves from one position in the organisation to another for a specified period of time only. At the conclusion of the period of secondment, the employee normally returns to their substantive position and classification level.
Secondments and internal transfers may occur at a classification level, employment mode or employment category which can be either the same or different from the position currently held by the employee.
Recommendations for transfers and secondments must be in writing, contain justification for the appointment, and accompany the Change in Appointment form for forwarding to Human Resources. |
