2012/2013 end of year arrangements
The gazetted public holidays for the 2012/2013 end of year period are:
- Tuesday 25 December 2012
- Wednesday 26 December 2012
- Tuesday 1 January 2013
To reflect the provisions of the USQ Enterprise Agreement 2010-2013, the University will be closed between Tuesday 25 December 2012 and Tuesday 1 January 2013 inclusive.
Thursday 27 December 2012 through to Monday 31 December 2012 - University paid leave days
In accordance with the USQ Enterprise Agreement 2010-2013, Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Monday 31 December 2012 will be treated as University paid leave days. Employees are not required to apply for annual leave for these days and these days will not be deducted from an employee’s annual leave balance.
Monday 24 December 2012
Monday 24 December 2012 is considered a normal University full working day (eg. 9.00am to 5.00pm), however managers and supervisors are encouraged to facilitate and support annual leave arrangements for employees wherever possible. Employees not attending work on this day must apply for a full working day of annual leave via UConnect employee self service.
Directed work over the end of year period
Where services are to be provided over the end of year period, managers should operate with the minimum number of employees necessary. Please advise your HR Client Services Team in writing by Monday 26 November 2012 of employees who will be directed to work over the end of year closure period and the days they are required to work.
An employee directed to work on any of the University paid leave days on Thursday 27, Friday 28 and Monday 31 December 2012 may substitute these days for alternative mutually convenient University paid leave days, normally within the following three month period. Employees must discuss this arrangement with their supervisor, and advise their HR Client Services Team by Monday 26 November 2012 of the nominated alternative days.
Annual leave loading
Annual leave loading for all employees will be included in the pay of Wednesday 12 December 2012. This payment is annual leave loading accrued for the 12 month period up to and including 30 November 2012.
The final pay of the year falls on Wednesday 26 December 2012, however to avoid any potential delays to employees receiving their pay, USQ will transfer salaries due to be paid on 26 December into nominated bank accounts on the night of Friday 21 December 2012. Please be advised that the cut off for this pay period is 12 noon on Wednesday, 12 December 2012. All documentation and forms that can be submitted early would be greatly appreciated.
Please contact your HR Client Services Team for any queries regarding these deadlines.
