2015/2016 end of year arrangements

Annual leave

The gazetted public holidays for the 2015/2016 end of year period are:

  • Friday 25 December 2015
  • Monday 28 December 2015
  • Friday 1 January 2016

To reflect the provisions of the University's Enterprise Agreement, the University will be closed between Friday 25 December 2015 and Friday 1 January 2016 inclusive and re-open for business on Monday 4 January 2016.

Tuesday 29 December 2015 through to Thursday 31 December 2015 - University paid leave days

Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 December 2015 will be treated as University paid leave days. Employees are not required to apply for annual leave for these days and these days will not be deducted from an employee’s annual leave balance.

Directed work over the end of year period

Where services are to be provided over the end of year period, managers should operate with the minimum number of employees necessary. Please advise your HR Client Services Team in writing by Monday 23 November 2015 of employees who will be directed to work over the end of year closure period and the days they are required to work.

An employee directed to work on any of the University paid leave days on Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 December 2015 may substitute these days for alternative mutually convenient University paid leave days, normally within the following three month period.  Employees must discuss this arrangement with their supervisor, and advise their HR Client Services Team by Monday 23 November 2015 of the nominated alternative days.

Annual leave loading

Annual leave loading for all employees will be included in the pay of Wednesday 9 December 2015. This payment is annual leave loading accrued for the 12 month period up to and including 27 November 2015.

Payroll deadlines

The final pay of the year falls on Wednesday 23 December 2015.  Please be advised that the cut off for this pay period is close of business on Monday 14 December 2015. All documentation and forms that can be submitted early would be greatly appreciated.
