Desktop Computers and Laptops Replacement Cycle

What is this service?

The replacement of desktop and notebook computers is budgeted and funded annually by each faculty and department of the university.  The information used to budget and plan for this replacement is sourced from the USQ Portable and Attractive Assets system.  Faculties and departments are required to purchase desktop and notebook computers for new initiatives and projects and then have these items included in the annual refresh cycle.  Further information is available from the USQ Computer Refresh Program Guidelines.  

What does this service include?

•  Replacement of existing desktop and notebook computers as per a refresh cycle of 4 years for desktop computers and 3 years for notebook computers
• Imaging and installation of replacement computers and notebooks.  Imaging includes restoration of data stored on network drives – individual H: Drive and shared J: Drive.
• Disposal of computers and notebooks at conclusion of the lifecycle  

What is not included in this service?

• Purchase of new computers and notebooks for new initiatives and projects
• Imaging does not include backup and restoration of data stored on the C drive of the computer being replaced.

How do I access this service?

Faculties and Departments submit an annual schedule of computers to be refreshed.

Is there a charge for this service?

Faculties and Departments pay an annual contribution to the replacement cycle.  Annual schedules are used to determine the faculty/department contribution required to maintain the program.
