How to Access the Labs

Swipe cards

Students and staff require swipe cards to access the student labs in K Block, S Block and all four of the Fraser Coast labs. The K block labs have four swipe card readers, with another three located in S block. These cards are issued by the Student Guild at the USQ Rec Centre and the Fraser Coast Student Guild at Lakeside Building. You cannot access the computer labs without a card.

If a problem is experienced with a card, please take it to the ICT Service Desk to be checked.

Student accounts

On-campus students

All students registered for any on campus course will have an account with the General Purpose Microcomputer Laboratories. Each registration provides access to applications, laser printers, printer quota and USQConnect. Each student is issued a username and password in order to logon to access these resources. Using this registration is subject to the Universities Policy for the Use of Information Technology Resources.

External students

External students do not automatically have access to use the computer labs and have to fill in an External Registration form. This form can be obtained by:

  • Telephoning the ICT Service Desk +61 7 4631 1900 during office hours to request an External Registration form to be be mailed or faxed.
  • Emailing the ictservicedesk@usq.edu.au to request the External Registration form. Include your Student Number, Course Details, Date of Birth and Current Address in the email.
  • Visiting the ICT Service Desk in person.

When you have been granted access to the computer labs, you do not have to register again throughout the course of your study. You can check if you have an active account by telephoning +61 7 4631 1510, emailing the ICT Service Desk or visiting the Service Desk in person. You will need to provide your student number and course details.

Students who have registered at the Fraser Coast Campus or Springfield do not need to re-register to use the Toowoomba computer labs. The same applies for students accessing the Fraser Coast Labs.

Contact the ICT Service Desk for further information.
