Internet Access/Quotas

The Internet Quota is a set amount of web browsing, downloading of software etc, that any student may generate in a day or a week.

The quota only applies to students who access UConnect through the computer labs on campus or through USQ modems and Wireless in Toowoomba, Brisbane and Fraser Coast. It does not apply if a student uses an Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Any URL (www address) that contains "usq.edu.au" is not included in the Internet Quota. The Internet Quota includes all pages, images, text viewed and software downloaded.

All undergraduate students and non-research postgraduate students are allocated 60MB of information per week. This is allocated in two blocks of 30MB on Monday and Friday. The maximum amount of quota that can be accrued is 70MB.

If you use more than your quota, you will not be allowed to view Internet pages until a certain number of days has passed, dependant on the amount you have exceeded the quota by.

For example: If you exceed your quota by the maximum of 70Mb it will take approximately one and a half weeks before you are able to use the internet again. When your Internet Quota is at a negative, you will still have access to UConnect, Student Web Mail, and all other "usq.edu.au" sites.

You can check your Internet Quota by going to UConnect > UAsk tab.

Use your Internet Quota for academic purposes not for downloading games or software, eg screen savers. It is your responsibility to check all software downloaded for viruses.
