Office 2007
Saving Files as a Previous Version
USQ does not yet fully support Windows Vista and Office 2007 as it is not yet the official USQ Operating System or Office Platform. Unless otherwise advised by your lecturer, you must save your assignments as a previous version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
The Microsoft Office button in the upper left corner of the 2007 applications lets you check for file compatibility and save backward-compatible versions of your work. The best option for making files from Office 2007 compatible with previous versions of Office software is to save your work in an older file format.
To save your work in a backward-compatible file format, click the Office button and choose Save As from the pull-down menu. (You must choose Save As, rather than Save.) Then in the Save a Copy of the Document menu that opens, for Word, Excel and PowerPoint choose 97-2003 format. For Access choose either 2002-2003 or 2000 format.
Before you save a file, it's also a good idea to select Prepare from the Office button and run a Compatibility Checker. This process will show how the file might change when it's opened in earlier versions of Office.
Compatibility Pack
Another option is to download a compatibility pack from Microsoft, that you can use to open and save Office 2007 files in earlier versions of Microsoft Office. The Microsoft web site provides instructions on how to download and install this feature.
Support
The ICT Service Desk provides limited support for Windows Vista and Office 2007.
