English for Academic Purposes Online Program

The English for Academic Purposes (EAP) online program is designed to prepare International students and Australian citizens from non-English speaking backgrounds for university education. Upon successful completion of this program you will be able to gain entry to USQ undergraduate or postgraduate programs by either continuing your studies online or on-campus.

What does the program include?

Online courses are focussed on introducing you to the academic conventions and expectations, as well as developing the language skills needed to succeed in the tertiary environment.

EAP is offered at two levels EAP 1 and EAP 2. Each level can be completed in 10 weeks; alternatively you can study at your own pace and add courses every ten weeks. In total EAPI and II consists of six core courses. You will need to complete all EAPI courses before attempting EAP2 courses.  On successful completion of EAP 2, you will gain direct entry into a USQ degree program.

Domestic students

Fee exempt places are available for students who are Australian citizens provided they meet the citizenship and residency requirements as follows:

  • You hold a Permanent Humanitarian Visa (and reside in Australia)
    OR
  • You hold a Permanent Resident Visa (and reside in Australia)
    OR
  • You are a New Zealand citizens (residing in Australia).

Entry requirements

Minimum academic requirements: completion of senior secondary schooling in the home country or Year 12 in an Australian High School or completed 'A' levels or mature-age entry.

English Language Entry Requirements

EAP I- An entry level of IELTS 5.0 or equivalent International test of English proficiency

EAP II (Undergraduate and postgraduate coursework) -An entry level of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent International English proficiency test score or  completion of the online CSWE (certificate in Spoken and written English) Certificate III from NSW AMES.

+If you do not meet the entry requirements you can enrol in the NSW AMES online courses. Completion of CSWE Certificate III will allow entry to EAPI.+

Dates and cost

The cost of the program is 800AUD for each 1 unit point course (EAPII courses) and 1600AUD  for each 2 unit point course (EAPI). You can start EAPI or EAPII courses every 10 weeks. The table below displays the start and finish dates for 2012:
