Introductory Academic Preparation

Our Introductory Academic Preparation (IAP) assists you in making a successful transition to living and studying in Australia. It will help prepare you for academic, social and cultural life at University, through the development of your academic skills.

Who can apply?

The Introductory Academic Preparation is for any international student who has received an offer to study at USQ and who wants to improve their skills in:

• academic reading and writing
• academic speaking
• research
• mathematics
• computing.

Why should I apply?

This will provide you with the opportunity to:

• develop your thinking processes
• gain practice in academic reading, writing, speaking and listening
• understand academic staff expectations
• begin accessing the academic, technological and support services provided by USQ, and
• examine issues involved in studying in Australia.

How do I apply?

When you have receive an offer to study a program at USQ, you can apply for the Introductory Academic Preparation.

Dates and fees

This program runs twice a year over three weeks prior to Orientation week, and classes are held Monday to Friday (25 hours per week). The cost of the program is AUD600 and the table displays the start and finish dates for 2013:
