How to apply
To apply for an Exchange or Study Abroad experience, you should contact the Study Abroad Coordinator at USQ International at the University's Toowoomba campus.
Once you are ready to apply, simply follow the steps below:
-
Choose which university you would like to attend. Visit the Study Aborad Coordinator at the International Office to discuss your options.
-
Research the courses offered at your host institution (using the Internet or the Study Abroad Office) and make a list of possible course matches. Make an appointment to see a member of staff (usually an Associate Head) and take your course research with you. You need faculty approval for your course choices.
-
Get references from 2 different lecturers or tutors who have taught you in your current program. Make sure that you approach them well in advance of the application deadline so that they have enough time to write the reference.
-
Write a statement of purpose explaining your reasons for wanting to study overseas, what you hope to achieve and how the experience will affect your academic, personal and career goals.
-
-
Upon completion of the appropriate application forms, the Study Abroad Coordinator assesses your application. If your application is approved, it is then forwarded to the host university.
-
If the host university accepts your application, an offer letter is sent to the Study Abroad Coordinator and you are contacted.
-
When you receive the offer letter, it is your responsibility to fill in all of the necessary forms, organise your accommodation and apply for your visa. The Study Abroad Coordinator can guide you through this process and takes care of sending and receiving documents on your behalf so make sure you stay in touch!
-
If you are participating in an Exchange program, you must remain enrolled at USQ during your time abroad. The Study Abroad Coordinator takes care of your enrolment once it is confirmed that you have accepted an offer from your host institution. Make sure that the Study Abroad Coordinator has copies of all documents to keep on file.
-
If you are participating in a Study Abroad program, you must take a leave of absence or defer your USQ studies while abroad. Please see Student Administration and your faculty office about this and complete the appropriate documents. Make sure that the Study Abroad Coordinator has copies of all documents to keep on file.
Application deadlines
Some institutions have earlier deadlines. Please ask the Study Abroad Coordinator for more information.
