What to bring
Personal computer / information technologies / electrical equipment
Personal computer (if preferred). There is no duty / sales tax if you take your computer home when you leave Australia. Bring your receipt (if you have one) and be sure to declare the computer to Customs if it is less than 12 months old. Electricity in Queensland is 240v / 50 cycles AC. Adaptor plugs are readily available from retailers near all USQ campus locations.
Clothing to suit the climate
Summer in South-east Queensland generally stretches from November to March with average daily temperatures of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. Temperatures can fluctuate with differing weather patterns and can go as low as 14 and as high as 39 degrees Celsius.
Winter months are June, July and August. Average daily temperatures hover between 6 to 17 degrees Celsius. Differing weather patterns mean temperatures can go to as cold as -4 and as warm as 25 degrees Celsius. Male students on-campus wear long trousers or jeans and shirts (collared button down; polo shirts; t-shirts). Footwear is usually sports shoes (joggers / gym shoes), casual shoes or sandals.
Female students on-campus wear long trousers, jeans, skirts and shirts/t-shirts. Footwear is often sports shoes or low-heeled casual shoes/sandals.
Travel light
Bring only what you can comfortably carry. Household, personal, computer and clothing items you may need are readily available in Australia and range in price from inexpensive (second hand or discount), to mid range (reasonable), expensive (designer items). Luggage limits apply to the airport reception and transfer service so check the Conditions of service, before you leave home.
