I am the Director (Student Services) within the Student Management Division. I have been working at the University for nearly eight years. I started my career at USQ as a psychologist, providing counselling to students. A diverse career path at the University has led me to my current role.
USQ helped me see opportunities that I had never explored before. Through working in various areas and on different projects I got to know a lot of different people and developed an interest in strategic matters. I have always aspired to run a multi-disciplinary unit, and through informal mentoring at USQ I was given the encouragement to follow my ambition.
The University creates a setting where you are allowed to explore your skills and interests. There are so many inspiring people here who encourage you to take advantage of opportunities that the University presents to you.
We have a great team in the Student Management Division, where we work hard but we have fun too. We have a lot of respect for each other and provide solid collegial support.
I enjoy the diversity that working at the University brings; no two days are ever the same. We are given great scope to innovate and create new and dynamic initiatives for students.
USQ is my community. At USQ we are provided with a lot of flexibility and balance in our work and our lives. I am currently completing a Doctorate of Education here while working full-time and I am a life member of the USQ Firebirds softball team. Last year I received an Honorary Blue from the USQ Student Guild for my contribution to the sport. I am also on the management committee of a local not-for-profit organisation and am on the executive committee for an international student services organisation. USQ allows me to do this, and supports me in this.
