USQ Learning and Teaching Visiting Scholar - Dr Hamish Coates Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER)
Among his many achievements, Hamish has pioneered a system of evaluation that addresses the whole student learning journey - not just learning and teaching. He will spend time at USQ exploring student learning journey initiatives and advising on the development of USQ's evaluation processes.

Professor Geoff Scott, PVC University of Western Sydney will be the special guest at the launch of the inaugural USQ Teaching Academy and conduct a public lecture during the ceremony discussing academic leadership in the context of change management in higher education. His specific areas of research and writing are in strategic change management and leadership in post-secondary and higher education; quality audit, tracking and improvement in universities; student engagement and retention; flexible learning design and delivery; and assessment of professional capability.
Professor Geoff Scott prepared the report Accessing the Student Voice.

International Learning and Teaching Visiting Scholar - Frank Lyons, Portsmouth University
Frank is a national Teaching and Learning Award winner in the UK. He was a pioneer of work-based learning degrees and corporate degrees. He is currently director of one of UK's Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) specialising in Foundation Degrees. His program will cover all three campuses and he will assist in the development of a number of videotaped interviews that can be used for the purposes of professional development in faculties.

The Carrick Exchange is being developed to produce a suite of online services specifically for learning and teaching in higher education. It is a platform that will allow people to collaborate, exchange ideas and share content around learning and teaching incorporating a range of tools including social networking. The inclusion of a repository for sharing resources is a key aspect of the Exchange which is scheduled for release to all involved in Carrick activities by mid-year.

USQ Learning and Teaching Visiting Scholar - Professor Keith Trigwell Sydney University. Keith Trigwell took up the position of Director of ITL and Professor of Higher Education in October 2006. Before this move Keith was Director of the Oxford Centre
for Excellence in Preparing for Academic Practice, a Fellow of Kellogg College, and Reader in Higher Education at the University of Oxford.
He has university teaching experience in chemistry and education, and is the recipient of seven joint ARC research grants and has published over 100 journal articles, conference papers and books, including Understanding Learning and Teaching: The experience in higher education, which is a summary of 10 years of learning/teaching research. His research work in Oxford and Sydney focuses on investigations into qualitative differences in university teaching and in the students' learning experience and on teaching-research relations and the scholarship of teaching generally.
In the last few years he has given invited addresses on teaching-learning research in Spain, Finland, USA, Canada, Belgium, Ireland, Iceland and the UK. He is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and a Visiting Scholar at the University of Iceland. He is co-president (elect) of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, Higher Education Special Interest Group Co-coordinator for the European Associate for Research in Learning and
Instruction, and in 2005 was appointed a co-coordinating editor of the international journal Higher Education.
