Work-based learning summit
The Learning and Teaching Support Unit (LTSU) held a Work-based Learning Summit on 19 October 2007.
The purpose of the Summit was to:
-
raise awareness of work-based learning opportunities
-
address the need for an integrated USQ plan for work-based learning that accommodates all faculties and campuses
-
disseminate USQ good practice in work-based learning.
The challenge is to develop:
-
a simple process for students to reflect on demonstrated achievement of graduate attributes and capabilities
-
an efficient process for staff to assess achievement of graduate attributes and capabilities
-
a mechanism to enable an appropriate level of exemptions to be given
-
a mechanism to ensure USQ gets paid appropriately for the assessment and other processes.
The summit was conducted for the purpose of bringing to fruition an important element of the draft USQ learning and teaching plan. LTSU hope that faculties and campuses will be able to run similar summits and have different staff attend each Summit with opportunities to feed back through faculty Learning and Teaching Executive Committees and campus meetings.
