Dr Elizabeth McDonald

Workshops held 27 and 28th November 2012

Dr McDonald facilitated a  two-hour workshop designed to help staff to understand the elements of a successful learning and teaching grant application. The first part concentrated on building confidence in reading grants guidelines, while in the second part she covered beginning the planning of a project. During the workshops OLT grants guidelines were explored to identify key elements to be address in designing a proposal.

Dr McDonald's had the following outcomes for staff.

  • to be familiar with the Office for Learning and Teaching guidelines
  • to be able to identify the key elements that must be addressed in preparing a successful application
  • to know where to find resources to assist you to think about the elements needed for a successful application
  • to appreciate the level of preparation required to prepare a grant proposal
  • to have developed an outline for a project proposal.

Dr Elizabeth McDonald

Short bio

Dr Elizabeth McDonald followed up a teaching career with policy and program work in a number of organisations including Parramatta Catholic Education Office, the Department of Education Science and Training (DEST) and the Australian Learning and Teaching Council. In DEST, she ran the secretariat for a national review of nursing education and then took a key role in the establishment of the Carrick Institute, which was to become the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) where she took a leadership position in 2006. Among her responsibilities while at the ALTC was the Programs and Networks portfolio, which included management of the grants programs. She has been doing consultancy work including project evaluation and has worked with the ACU Institute for Advancing Community Engagement and the Learning and Teaching Centre since she finished at the ALTC in late 2009.
