Computers and labs located in the Library
Located in the library are a variety of computers available to students, staff and general public for a range of purposes:
- catalogue searching and research
- assignment preparation and printing
- group study

- 'walk-in catalogue computers' have been provided for people without student access
- microfiche/microfilm reading and scanning
- assistive technology room with specialised software and equipment to assist with disabilities
- training lab for information sessions and special Library workshops.

* Student access: requires a person to have an active USQ student enrolment.
** Public/staff/student: Public access uses a 'generic' logon for staff and non students for finding information on the Library catalogue. Students may logon normally.
Printing
One black - default printer (scanner not active).
One colour laser printer with active scanner.
Available to USQ students, not staff and general public.
Photocopying
Photocopiers are located in the Library on
level 3 (PDF 160KB) on the western and southern walls.
Two coin operated copiers.
One colour, one overhead transparency and five black and white copiers using USQ student card for payment.
To copy use student/resource cards or coins.
Adding money to student cards - Value Adding machines
The value adding machines are used to add money to your student card for photocopying or adding to your print quota.
Two value adding machines which take coins and notes.
Machines can also be used to purchase re-usable resource cards ($5 each – come with $2 credit).
Change machine
The Library houses a change machine which will give $1 coins in exchange for $5, $10 and $20 notes.
See the Loans desk for change for larger notes.
Scanning
The colour printer on level 3 is also a scanner. (Note the scanner on the black printer is not active). The scanner can be used by student to scan documents to the P Drive on their student lab computers. Instructions for using the scanner are located near the colour printer on level 3 (PDF 160KB).
AV equipment
A range of Audio visual equipment is available for staff and student use on level 3 (PDF 160KB) including:
video players
DVD players
audio cassette players.
The Library also lends AV equipment to staff and students, including:
Digital video cameras
There are three Sony DCR-SX40E digital video cameras that are available for a one day loan by staff and students from the Library Loans Desk. Library staff will explain the process for loan and return of the equipment.
- Information for Using the Sony DRC Camera (PDF 540KB) in the Library, creating a DVD of your recording and for editing on a computer
- DCR-SX40E owners manual (PDF 6.4MB) - a copy of the manual provided with the camera
- R Block level 3 has 4 computers R301-01 to R301-04 (PDF 170KB) that have software installed to import and edit your video from the cameras
- Use the CD supplied with teh camera or download from Sony and install the software for importing your video onto your own computer to edit at home
- DVD Express burner is used burn a DVD directly from the video camera, where no editing is required
- you will need to supply your own blank DVD (available form the USQ Bookshop)
- 1 hour loan, for use only in the Library. See the Library Loans Desk to borrow the DVD burner
Portable Document Format (PDF) requires the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader. A free copy of Acrobat Reader may be obtained from Adobe.
