Student and staff access
Student access to course readings in DiReCt
Students can only access readings for courses in which they are currently enrolled. Access is via USQStudyDesk.
- Click the Course readings - DiReCt link (in the Useful Links block on the left)
- This will take you to the DiReCt login page
- Login with your USQ username and password
- A list of readings for the course will display
- Click on the title of the desired reading
- A Copyright notice will display - read it and click Accept
- The reading will display.
Staff access to DiReCt
Staff can access DiReCt in two ways:
- For access to the resource list for a particular course:
- Go to USQStudyDesk
- Click on the Course Readings - DiReCt link in the Useful Links
- Enter your USQ login
- The list of readings will display
- To access a reading, click on the title (in blue)
- To submit a new resource please refer to submitting a resource
- Click on the DiReCt link under the Staff and Researchers section on the Library homepage
- Enter your USQ login
Searching for resources
You can search for resources within DiReCt, but will not be able to access the actual reading.
To search:
- Enter a search term into the Search box in the left hand menu, and click the blue button.
- Search by keyword, including title, author, lecturer name and course code.
- Search results will display in Rank order. To change the sort order, drop down the menu on the right hand side which says Sort by Rank. Sort by Name will sort in title order.

Search for a phrase or title by enclosing the search terms in parentheses. For example:
